Why get a Boundary Survey?


There are no laws forcing home or business owners to acquire a Boundary Survey but it is the right thing to do.
Especially in your neighbors perspective. By acquiring a Boundary Survey you show concern to your neighbor that you value both property’s in question.
And you do this in good faith and it is the neighborly thing to do in today’s world.

A Boundary Survey puts the burden on the Surveyor if any Property lines comes in question.
Only a licensed Surveyor can show question to another surveyor’s work.
Even though a neighbor might disagree with what the surveyor lays out they must acquire a licensed surveyor to raise a dispute with the survey.

What happens if a dispute comes up or my neighbors are questioning the survey that was performed?


Normally if another surveying firm has questions with the work performed they may ask you what surveying firm you had survey your property and they will contact direct.
If your neighbor questions the work of the survey firm it is best to have them call the firm directly.

What comes with a standard Boundary Survey?


HFSO sets and or marks with flagging all the iron property markers to your land.
If we find the markers buried deep we will raise up the existing iron marker with a sleeve to bring it to ground level for easy visibility.
If we set any of the corner pins we use an 18” solid iron rebar with a yellow cap on top of the rebar.
The cap will labeled property corner and have HFSO’s license number on it.
There is also a wooden stake placed by the iron rebar to mark it by.
Also wooden P.O.L. (point on line) stakes are set in between the corner markers to assist in establishing the property line more clearly.
Normally we do not put POL stakes across the front or the street side of the property unless a fence or work is to be performed there.
